In the thoughtfully designed Rise Apartments in Madison, WI, creating welcoming, durable, and inclusive shared spaces was a top priority—and Integra’s Summit Chair rose to the occasion.
Selected by the design team at Destree Design Architects for three of the four buildings in this workforce housing development, the Summit Chair was a natural fit. “We needed an option that works for all body types—people of all ages, sizes, and abilities,” said Amy Dittlof, Project Specialist/ Designer at Destree. “The Summit Chair checked every box.”
Its classic, clean-lined silhouette offers more than just timeless good looks. Durability and long-term performance were key—especially in high-use common areas for families and individuals. The Summit’s high weight capacity, supportive arms, and maintenance-friendly design made it the perfect choice.
What truly sets it apart, though, is its adaptability. Across Rise’s three buildings, the team curated upholstery selections to reflect each space’s tone, from playful blue patterns for family lounges to more refined textures in senior-friendly zones. “It looks like two different chairs,” Dittlof noted, “but it’s the same Summit. That flexibility is exactly what we needed.”
Another subtle but important design consideration was visibility and safety. “Swivel chairs let residents orient themselves to their environment easily,” added Melissa Destree, Principal Architect / Interior Designer at the firm. “It’s a simple element, but it helps create spaces where people feel more aware, more comfortable, and more connected.” And for those with mobility needs, the Summit’s fixed-leg version ensures stability without sacrificing aesthetics.
